Lago de Apoyo

First dates don´t get much better than this. Here we found our little bit of paradise. One of our favourite (if not THE...) in Nicaragua. A lake found in the center of an extinct volcano, clear, warm water, a dock and your very own inner tube... what more could you ask for?

Bonanza

Bonanza is a mining town in the North of Nicaragua. We visited in September to meet the special pioneers there and take some pics of the mayagna community. Pic 1, Hamilton and Andrew at the Bonanza KH, pic 2 Camilo the one and only Mayagna JW, and Pic 3 pictue of typical preaching to Mayagna´s along the river. There are only a handful of publications in Mayagna, but as they are pretty much the only literature printed in that language they are accepted with gusto. (Hamilton and Eleazar)

Road to Bonanza

This road trip to Bosawas, was a real experience. I´ve never seen roads like this, see pic 1 for an example. We had to balance one wheel on the slither of road remaining while the other was supported by a steel beam. The views were breathtaking, as were the people we met on the way.

Volcan Masaya

View from top of Volcán Masaya. I loved this place, completely different to any other place I´ve seen in Nicaragua. This active volcano is constantly spewing out smoke which actually makes it hard to breathe. What is probably the best road in Nicaragua takes you to the very mouth of the volcano, with a breath taking panoramic of the entire cone. At night time you can see the glow of the magma below, truly awesome place.

Sign Language District 08

Here I´m stylin´ my 70´s look thanks to a new haircut plus a windy 4 hour drive to the Sign Language convention. We had some difficulties getting transportation but in the end a sister came through for us and loaned us this truck..we just paid the fuel. 6 deaf made the trip with us. Sundays attendance was a record 781 with almost 200 deaf. In the truck with me are Eunice, Jael, Miguel Angel, Idania and Karen.
Juan, Miguel Angel, Andrew, Jenny
Sign Language convention, Jenny, Andrew and Isidro. Isidro came to stay at Jinotega for a week to help with the sign language territory. He has recently appeared on national TV advertising the convention and the new Sign Language DVD

Rurals

Preaching on rurals is something else. I would have been less than enthusiastic about preaching to a group of nine men back in Spain, here it´s a pleasure, fifteen minutes of questions, and starting the first lesson of the require brochure. It felt like a book study, amazing!

Matagalpa KH cleanup

Getting our feet dirty....cleanning up after the North Matagalpa Hall flooded in October. The floods were pretty incredible, 5 died in the city alone, several bridges were washed away together with dozens of homes. At the KH the mud was knee deep when we started; with the help of the bros, army and large bulldozers provided by the the town hall, it was ready to be used after a week of hard work. Albert, Lena, Jael, Jenny, Loida, Chema and Andrew.

David hard at work.
Catalino cleaning out the well.
Health and safety was a major priority:) These brothers are working about 21 ft up on slippery rails. Fortunately there were no major accidents.
